- With the 3rd round of the RACE Super Series just one week before the PCSC
Calgary National generally keeps most competitors efforts at only ninety
percent. But based on lap times being turned during Fridays test day some of the
fast RACE regulars where turning up the heat. With ProStars equipment heading to
Calgary for Sebastien Tremblay, ProStar was running the regional with Frank
Trombino, a CBR600RR, the Teams CBR1000RR super bike and little else.
Saturday brought an up and down day for the team with a small get off Saturday
afternoon; “I was pushing really hard trying to run the pace in the 600 heat
race and I felt I might be able to keep him close” commented Trombino “I always
use second gear in that corner [Fabi turn three] and I just thought I might just
try first gear … anyways, the move kind of bit me and we bent the bike a little…
you know, scratched the paint”. With the super bike race run earlier in the
afternoon and the damage to the CBR600RR being minimal, it was an easy fix for
the team and their sponsors “Saturday’s superbike heat race was great for us,
the Sturgess Cycle CBR1000RR is a dream to ride it really carves up the corners
and holds its line……. and we needed the points” with Nelson and his BMW running
below the Fabi track record on Friday the team knew it had a fight on its hands
come the superbike race Sunday afternoon.
“In Pro 600 everybody is chasing Christie and today it was second place, like it
or not. The kid is flying and his bikes are very good, it doesn’t hurt to have
Fast Co. power. That’s one of the fastest 600s in the country, Scott knows his
stuff………. Jodi is going to be hard to beat this year, it’s a very good bike and
he is becoming a very good racer” stated Ben Gartner of ProStar “we have a very
good 600 and great rider ….. anyways, we just need to work harder, this year
isn’t over yet”.
“In Superbike that’s a different story, the team and our Sturgess Cycle/SCC
CBR1000RR is getting better all the time and I know we can make the bike even
stronger, I am fortunate to be getting help from Scott Miller and parts are
coming from Peter Botting at Wizo EDM, both have been very important to us and
our on going bike development”. Sundays win was a big one for the team, with
Trombino leading the race from start to finish “I just found a comfortable
rhythm, I’m really starting to understand the bike………it was a really good pace
and I wanted to be out front, I knew someone was there the whole time, I could
here them, I just kept my head down and pushed [Nelson set the out right Fabi
track record in pursuit] the changes we are making and parts we are getting are
making all the difference” continued Trombino “I love how the Honda CBR1000RR
works……… the team has given me a really strong motorcycle”
“ProStar Motorsports needs to thank some people after this weekend” smiled
ProStars Joel Nodell “we have a great group of sponsors and supporters as well
as customers, we saw that this weekend in Jody Greenings great performance on
his ProStar prepared race bike, second place in the AM600 and Superbike races,
we couldn’t be happier for him and his family. We have people who are doing
their very best to help us out and the teams results are starting to show, an
additional thanks goes to; Jamie Conrad, Shaz Ahmad, James Collins, Lang and Lee
Hindle ……. And there is countless more we still need to thank”.
ProStar Motorsports would like to thank: Sturgess Cycle, SPYKE leathers, Hindle
Exhaust, Sport Center Café, Orion Motorsports/Pirelli, Honda Canada, Honda Pro
Oils, Mimic Industries, Blue Streak Racing, Woodcraft CFM, Absolute Adventures,
